The great landscape architects created stunning vistas that, in many cases, endure to this day. Whether you are creating an outside space to survive the next 300 years, or are simply an enthusiastic gardener hoping to reflect the achievements of Capability Brown in your own garden, the right working environment will help you to reach your potential.

Greenhouses & Glasshouses are the artist’s studio of the garden; a place to work when the weather turns sour, a retreat from the hectic hustle-bustle of the daily life itself, and a shelter for new plants until they are hardy enough to face the elements outside.

The Hartley Cottage bring a taste of traditional Greenhouses & Glasshouses to modern-day properties, with an elegant design that has itself remained unchanged since the mid-twentieth century. Almost parabolic in shape, the semi-dodecagons provide an interior flooded with sunlight from roof to floor and free from obstructions such as extra internal struts, cross-beams and columns.

Step inside on the gloomiest of days and you are cocooned against the elements and transported to a place where you can focus on your planting and growing, without concern for what is happening outside. For the days when the sun shines, meanwhile, ventilation helps to keep the interior space at the ideal temperature for your plants, whatever you choose to grow.

To the outside observer, The Hartley Cottage evokes the sentiments of a bygone era, with a classic Hartley Greenhouse shape and a near-total glass exterior they bring to mind the Greenhouses & Glasshouses of stately homes in centuries past – and provide a similarly striking centrepiece for any garden currently lacking in structural elements.

However, there is modern-day science involved in their construction, with toughened safety glass to withstand the rigours of the passing decades, there is no direct glass-to-glass or glass-to-metal contact as each pane of glass is encased in a protective edging of thermal Plastic Rubber.

Just as the best topsoil can benefit from fertiliser from time to time, the most accomplished gardener needs the right tools at his or her disposal – with The Hartley Cottage, you are giving yourself and your plants the best growing environment, whatever the weather.

The Hartley range of Greenhouses offers free standing models with different widths, lengths and ridge heights to suit your individual requirements, plus a lean to model of the classic Hartley Greenhouse is available.

Please Note – All Hartley Greenhouses require a foundation for which the client will receive a fully specified drawing upon ordering.
