What type of glass is used for a greenhouse?

Glass Greenhouses use a toughened safety glass to protect from potential damage. This type of glass has endured an extreme heat-treating and cooling process to increase its strength.

This differs from standard 3mm horticulture glass, which is the lowest type of glass that can technically be used for a glass Greenhouse. Horticultural glass is thinner and prone to breakage, making it particularly fragile.

At Hartley Botanic, our glass Greenhouses are made from 4mm toughened safety glass. The heat-strengthening ensures that, if broken, it does not splinter, making it safer to use in gardens.

Our glass Greenhouses are also highly durable, protecting your plants throughout all kinds of weather and providing a thick shelter from the outside elements.
